vROps – Upgrading vRealize Operations Manager from 6.1 to 6.2

The *day* that I finally got vROps upgraded from 6.0.2 to 6.1 was the exact same day that the 6.2 upgrade came out! VMware has assured me that the process for going from 6.1 to 6.2 will be less painful… Let’s find out!

1. Download the 2 PAK files from VMware:

   

2. Log into admin portal for your vROps environment (https://<servername or IP>/admin)
3. Go to Software update:

   

   

   

4. OS FIRST!!!

   

   

   

   

   

5. When it’s done, you will see the following result:

   

6. Now move on to the application PAK upgrade:

   

   

   

   

   

   

7. And when you are done it looks like this:

   

So in summary, the upgrade from 6.1 to 6.2 was *significantly* easier than the upgrade from 6.0.2 to 6.1. Obviously a lot of cleanup was performed during the 6.0 -> 6.1 upgrade, so if we were still in the “messy” pre-6.1 state (which we cleaned up in the previous article) then going from 6.0.2 to 6.2 might not have been as easy.
