vROPs – Proof of Concept Design Phase

As we are spinning up the proof of concept for running an enterprise level monitoring tool in our environment.  I’m going to post about some of the findings & information here.  This post will cover the Proof of Concept (PoC) design phase.  As this is a PoC, we aren’t going to create a new VLAN for the analytics cluster.  Instead we’re going to spin it up in the same VLAN that the vCenter servers reside, with a remote collector sitting within the VLAN that houses storage management devices:

For a full deployment the tool would sit in it’s own monitoring VLAN with the appropriate firewall rules to allow traffic between remote collectors and the analytics cluster:
